Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Chicago's Hyde Park campus seeks a Staff Nurse for the 8N/8S Neuro ICU. The role is 0.9 FTE, nights (7pm–7:30am), onsite at the Center for Care and Discovery, in a 24-bed neuro ICU, serving the greater Chicagoland area.

The nurse will assess needs, develop care plans, and may assume charge nurse duties. ADN to BSN progression is supported; active IL RN license and BLS required. Join a collaborative team delivering advanced neuro care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• ADN nurses must enroll in BSN within 6–9 months and complete BSN within 30 months; tuition may be reimbursed.
• Current Illinois RN license.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.
• Develops a plan of care for patients not requiring Case Manager expertise, or collaborates with Case Manager to develop a plan of care.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by Care Center Director or Patient Care Manager.
• Provides support to peers by assisting as needed, being a resource, and working as a team member.
• Assists Care Center in development/attainment of goals and objectives.
• Uses clinical pathways and/or plans of care incorporating standards of practice.
• Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation.
