Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine seeks a Staff Nurse (RN) in the Multispecialty ICU at its Hyde Park campus. This is a 100% onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area.

The staff nurse provides outcome-directed patient-centered care and oversees care personally and with supervisees. Essential duties include assessment-driven care planning, potential charge nurse responsibilities, and collaboration with Case Management.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN-accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred; ADN nurses must enroll in BSN within 6–9 months and complete within 30 months.
• Current Illinois RN license
• BLS from the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

• Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.
• Develops a plan of care for patients whose needs do not require a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by the Care Center Director or the Patient Care Manager.
• Provides support to peers by assisting as needed and working as a team member.
• Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation.
