Del Mar College is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach Bullet Journaling in the Continuing Education department. The position is part-time, non-exempt and paid hourly.

Courses may be scheduled at various times and locations to meet institutional need, with an emphasis on practical journaling techniques. Candidates should have at least three years of teaching English, Art, or Cursive Writing, and be able to use a range of teaching styles and technologies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Teach Bullet Journaling courses at multiple times/locations as needed.
  • Develop and use diverse teaching methods and materials to meet outcomes.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
  • Evaluate student progress within college grading policies and methods.
  • Provide a clear syllabus and manage attendance and grade input into WebDMC.

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities to successfully teach courses in Bullet Journaling. Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.

Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes. Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.

Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within the College grade and grade appeals procedures. Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.

Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule of work. Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning.

Maintain daily attendance rosters. Input final student grades into WebDMC. Submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years teaching experience in English, Art, or Cursive Writing.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/ outline provided to ensure course content and objectives are met.

Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.

Ability to utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.

Knowledgeable in working with a variety of different journal techniques.

Ability to clearly communicate journal techniques to students.

Ability to spot and cultivate creativity.

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years experience teaching Bullet Journaling.
