Job summary

TYLin is seeking a Buildings Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2027 in our Ann Arbor, MI office. You will gain hands-on experience in structural design for commercial, institutional, and residential buildings, from concept through construction.

You will perform field reviews, study engineering plans, and assist with computer modeling and hand calculations alongside a project team in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Requires current 3rd year standing as an undergraduate, or a Graduate student standing, in an accredited Civil Engineering program or Architectural Engineering program (with a focus on structures)
• Completion of steel and concrete design classes preferred, completion of at least one of these classes required
• Experience with MS Word, Excel and engineering software
• Familiarity with REVIT Structure beneficial
• Co‑op/Internship experience related to commercial, institutional, or residential buildings would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist the project team in preparing structural design and drawings for buildings (commercial, institutional, residential) from conceptual to construction stages
• Perform field reviews and document existing conditions for projects under construction or existing buildings
• Become familiar with engineering plans and details
• Assist with computer modeling and hand calculations
