Job summary

STV Incorporated in New York City is seeking a Senior Designer to join our Buildings Group. The role functions as Design Manager, sharing leadership with the Project Manager to guide design, scheduling, and coordination across consultants and team members.

You will drive programming, space planning, and conceptual design, work with the Project Architect on documentation, and lead regular client interactions while upholding STV’s design standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture from a program recognized by the applicable state licensing authority and NCARB toward architectural licensure.
• 12+ years of progressive professional experience on complex building projects, including leadership of design teams and consultants from concept through construction.
• Expected to obtain architectural licensure within 12 months.
• Fluency in managing teams working in Revit workflows.
• Fluency in Bluebeam and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with clients, staff, and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Proposals and Pursuits: Support designated pursuits with the Project Manager and Pursuit Leader, contributing to the project approach, design narrative, staffing input, and presentations.
• Project Controls and Change Management: Be consulted in finalizing the project budget and overall schedule; confirm staffing aligns with budget; identify changes early and coordinate with the Project Manager.
• Design and Project Delivery: Lead programming, space planning, and conceptual design; oversee design development and documentation; own the detailed design schedule; lead coordination meetings.
• Quality Assurance: Serve as final reviewer of each design package; ensure QA/QC reviews for addenda, bid submissions, and key deliverables; reinforce design standards.
• Construction Administration: Manage CA activities; lead CA meetings, logs, and reporting; coordinate responses to RFIs and submittals.
• Leadership and Mentorship: Mentor staff; foster collaboration, accountability, and STV culture; support growth and professional development.
