Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking an Operating Engineer to ensure efficient operation of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems across properties in Chicago. You will perform rounds, preventive maintenance, and repairs, while maintaining safety and cleanliness.

The role requires familiarity with HVAC, pumps, chillers, energy management and NFPA-compliant life-safety practices. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of relevant experience, appropriate trade licenses, and strong computer skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; apprentice or trade school preferred.
• 5+ years operating mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in commercial properties.
• Appropriate trade licenses may be required (Journeyman/Master Electrician, etc.).
• Basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel & Word; energy management knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for assigned properties.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections and routine repairs.
• Monitor energy management, adjust equipment, and ensure safe, clean facilities.
• Inspect engines, HVAC equipment, pumps, cooling towers and electrical rooms; document activities.
