Job summary

Ryan Companies US, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Engineer to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to building systems and fixtures in our Chicago downtown properties. This role supports tenants and owners, with participation in an on-call rotation required.

The position emphasizes safe, efficient operations, strong customer service, and collaboration with property management and engineering teams. Standard first shift expectations apply with after-hours coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating commercial buildings and equipment.
• High School Degree or equivalent.
• Two-year technical degree or equivalent.
• Licensing/certifications to operate a building.
• Participate in on-call, after-hours and weekend rotation.
• Basic computer skills and ability to lift 100 lbs.
• Excellent verbal communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on building equipment and systems.
• Manage and/or assist subcontractors with maintenance, repairs and projects.
• Respond to tenant service work orders promptly and professionally.
• Coordinate with the property manager and chief engineer on services and planning.
• Maintain mechanical/utility rooms and keep areas clean daily.
• Monitor energy systems, adjust set-points, and document actions daily.
• Ensure Fire/Life/Safety equipment operates as designed.
• Participate in on-call, after-hours, and weekend work as needed.
• Complete all required training and safety programs.
• Provide exceptional customer service and teamwork.
• Lead by example in alignment with company values.
