Job summary

Minnetonka Public Schools is seeking a part-time Explorers program assistant for after-school childcare, recreation and enrichment sessions. The position runs August 24, 2026 to June 8, 2027, with openings at Groveland, Clear Springs, Scenic Heights, Deephaven, Excelsior and Minnewashta.

Starting pay is $20.28 per hour, with potential for Summer Explorers placement and no medical/dental benefits. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, managing space usage, assisting instructors, supporting

Qualifications

• Must pass DHS background study and fingerprinting.
• Must complete Explorers trainings, including Health & Safety, CPR, Child Development, and Mandated Reporting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc.
• Evidence of outgoing, friendly personality.
• Strong ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Evidence of ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Meets, greets and provides information and directions to persons in buildings so that people arrive at the scheduled location.
• Ensures quality customer service for our user groups and proper use of space. Responds to any emergencies that may arise (weather incidents, fire, intruder, etc) and follow up with appropriate building leadership communication.
• Unlocks & locks rooms for Community Ed usage.
• Assists with technology use if needed.
• Assists with class lists, handouts, and other necessary materials to instructors.
• Visually checks each area in use before and after activity to ensure its order for the next day.
• Assists in preparation and organization of field trip paperwork
• Maintains a positive rapport with students, staff, administration and the public
• All other duties as assigned including activity preparation

• Part-time assignment from August 24th, 2026 - June 8th, 2027
• One opening each at Groveland, Clear Springs, Scenic Heights, Deephaven, Excelsior, and Minnewashta
• Potential for Summer Explorers placement
• This position reports to the Explorers Program Manager.
