Job summary

Minnetonka Public School Service Center is seeking a Junior Explorers Program Leader for 35 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 10:30am-5:30pm) starting 2026-2027 to supervise children aged 3-5 before and after school at Minnetonka Community Education Center. Plan activities, manage spaces and supervise staff.

Responsibilities include creating engaging activities, maintaining attendance in Eleyo, ensuring safety on site and during field trips, building positive relationships with families, attending staff

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the education/work experience options listed.
• First aid & CPR training completed prior to starting employment.
• Online training links provided by employer; staff development hours annually.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and guide students; manage spaces; lead activities; supervise Program Assistants/Aides.
• Create developmentally appropriate and engaging activities for students.
• Maintain attendance using the site tracking system (Eleyo).
• Ensure safety during programs including field trips and non-school days.
• Establish positive relationships with parents and guardians.
• Perform other duties of similar nature or level; maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Attend monthly staff meetings.

• Position Type: Community Education/ Explorers Program Leader

Assignment:

Starting 2026-2027 school year: 10:30am - 5:30pm, 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday

To support and supervise children ages 3-5 before and after school at Minnetonka Community Education Center. Plan activities, manage program spaces and, and supervise children. Provide guidance and ensure the safety of all students.

Job Responsibilities:

• Supervise and provide guidance for students. Manage program spaces, lead activities and provide guidance to Program Assistants and Program Aides.
• Create developmentally appropriate and engaging activities for students.
• Provide a safe, caring, fun environment for children including use of the site tracking system. Maintain accurate attendance records in Eleyo.
• Support students and ensure safety during non-school day programming both at our schools and on field trips in the community.
• Establish a positive and friendly relationship with parents.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
• Attend monthly staff meetings.

Training, Experience and Licensing:

• Complete required child care, first aid & CPR training prior to the first day of employment. Online training links will be provided by employer.
• Complete a required number of staff development hours annually

Must meet ONE of the education and work experience requirements listed below.

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Bachelor's Degree in an unrelated field AND three months of related experience
• AA or two years of college in a related field or equivalent certificate with six months of related experience
• An equivalent of one year full time work experience in childcare with Explorers OR an equivalent of two years childcare experience at the same level in a different program OR an equivalent of 3 years full time childcare in a lesser role in a different program.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Evidence of successful experience working with young children in a child care setting.

Physical Requirements:

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
