Position Title: Building Supervisor, Recreation Center

Department: Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation (PEAR)

Status: Part-Time (12–18 hours/week), Non-Exempt, Regular Staff (Non-Benefit Eligible)

Reports To: Director of Campus Recreation & Recreation Center Manager

Open Date: Immediate

Position Summary

The Recreation Center Building Supervisor ensures operational safety, facility coverage, and outstanding customer service across all Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation (PEAR) spaces. This role maintains an inclusive, safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and external guests across recreational, academic, athletic, and special event programming.

Compensation

Compensation: $16.55- $17.10/hr.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facility Operations: Execute daily opening and closing procedures, conduct hourly safety and cleanliness walkthroughs, and setup/breakdown equipment for fieldhouse courts, club sports, intramurals, and special events.
  • Customer Service & Front Desk Support: Greet visitors, process user check-ins, answer inquiries, manage equipment checkouts, and provide direction on facility amenities.
  • Staff Supervision: Oversee and support student workers assigned to the front desk and fitness center areas during operational hours.
  • Safety & Emergency Response: Serve as a primary on-site responder during incidents. Implement emergency action plans, medical procedures, and facility evacuations as necessary.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate daily with custodial, laundry, athletic, and event staff to ensure smooth overall operations.
  • Administrative & Other Duties: Maintain operational logs, assist with facility software/reservations, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • Availability: Flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Certifications: Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
  • Communication & Service: Strong interpersonal skills with a welcoming, customer-focused approach to support a diverse campus community.
  • Technical & Organizational Skills: Basic computer literacy with the ability to manage facility check-in systems and follow written/oral protocols.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 45 lbs., stand or walk for extended periods, and perform physical setups.
  • Core Values: Commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles and holistic well-being.
Preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in recreation facilities, sports management, or high-volume customer service.
  • Familiarity with athletic/recreation equipment maintenance and risk management protocols.
  • Background in or appreciation for a higher education / liberal arts college environment.
