Job summary

City of Blaine is seeking a Building Supervisor for the Mary Ann Young Center. You will supervise rentals, ensure safety, and coordinate room setup and turnover for events, evenings and weekends.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple schedules. You will open/close the facility, document incidents, and maintain logs while providing a safe, welcoming environment for diverse groups.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a valid Class D driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a BCA background check and driver’s check.
• Availability for evenings and weekends as rentals require.

Responsibilities

• Attend orientation and training.
• Open and close the facility properly.
• Set up rooms for rental.
• Arrange rooms between rentals as needed.
• Complete facility checklist after each rental and document any damage.
• Maintain log of damage or incidents.
• Exercise safety, discipline, and control in an active environment.
• Submit time sheets and incident/accident reports timely.
• Arrange a substitute from the supplied list if unable to work a shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Under administrative direction of the Mary Ann Young Center Staff, Building Supervisors are responsible for the supervision of rentals at MAYC. Hours and days vary but include evening and weekend hours.

Hours you may be required to work depending on rentals include:

• Monday - Friday 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Saturday - Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Attend an orientation and training session.
• Open and close the facility properly.
• Set up rooms for rental.
• Arrange rooms between rentals as needed.
• Complete facility checklist following each rental to determine any damage.
• Maintain log of any damage or incident occurring.
• Effective judgments regarding the well-being of participants and program.
• Maintain safety, discipline and control in an active environment.
• Complete and submit any necessary reports and forms in a timely manner including time sheets, incident or accident reports.
• Responsible for finding a substitute from supplied list if unable to work assigned shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to determine and maintain a safe environment and act accordingly in an emergency.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the general public.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Ability to demonstrate leadership skills.
• Basic knowledge of use of defibrillator.
