Job summary

Christel House Indianapolis is seeking a K-8 Building Substitute at Academy South to deliver standards-aligned instruction and support student learning. The role emphasizes collaboration with the school community and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Applicants should have two years of college with education exposure or equivalent, and must be able to obtain an Indiana Substitute Permit. The position includes benefits and opportunities for growth within the school.

Qualifications

• Two years of college with some training/exposure to education or network equivalent.
• Ability to obtain a Substitute Permit from the state of Indiana.
• Competency in using technology in the classroom setting.
• Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
• A strong belief in the mission and goals of Christel House Indianapolis.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that facilitate active learning.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, schedule student-led conferences, and promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
• Participate in appropriate professional activities.
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively, maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
• Other duties assigned.
