Job summary

Christel House Academy South in Indianapolis is seeking an 8th Grade Math Teacher (with one 6th grade section). The role requires a valid Indiana teaching license and a bachelor’s degree, and brings a starting salary of $55,600 for the first year.

You will plan and deliver standards-aligned lessons, manage classroom behavior, monitor student progress, engage families, and collaborate with instructional staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, standards-aligned math lessons for 8th grade with a 6th grade section
• Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
• Engage parents and community, conduct home visits, schedule conferences, and respond promptly to communications
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional activities
• Other duties assigned

Christel House Academy South is currently seeking a 8th Grade Math Teacher (with one 6th grade section)

Days of Service: 192 Days

8th Grade Math Teachers at Christel House have the autonomy to try innovative strategies in their classrooms to reach all types of learners. Teachers support the whole child, teaching character education and social and emotional learning strategies to students to support their development beyond academics. Teachers are supported by interventionists, instructional coaches, lead teachers, on-site social workers and counselors, and a staff that thrives on collaborating and improving within the school community.

Job Tasks:

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that facilitate active learning.


• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.


• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.


• Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, conduct home visits, schedule student-led conferences, and promptly return phone calls and answer emails.


• Participate in appropriate professional activities.


• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively, maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.


• Other duties assigned
