Job summary

Christel House Indianapolis is seeking a full-time K-5 Special Education Teacher at Academy South. The role includes developing and delivering IEP-aligned instruction, managing behavior, and collaborating with staff to support diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining all special education documentation and timelines for case conferences in accordance with state and federal requirements.
• Delivering services outlined in IEPs for students with disabilities in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Monitor progress of individual students and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Collaborate with staff and work with diverse learners from various backgrounds.
• Participate in professional activities and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Christel House Indianapolis is currently seeking a full-time K-5 Special Education Teacher at Academy South.

Days of Service: 192 Days

Job Tasks:

• Maintaining all special education documentation and timelines for case conferences in accordance with state and federal requirements.
• Ensuring the delivery of services outlined in individual education plans for students with disabilities in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that facilitate active learning.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Demonstrate a desire for working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
• Participate in appropriate professional activities
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships

Special Education Teachers at Christel House at DORS have the autonomy to try innovative strategies in their classrooms to reach all types of learners. Teachers support the whole child, teaching character education and social and emotional learning strategies to students to support their development beyond academics.
