Job summary

The City of El Paso Texas is seeking qualified inspectors to assess commercial and residential construction for compliance with national, state, and local building standards. You will review plans, issue permits, and provide interpretation of codes to the public and contractors.

Typical duties include on-site inspections of building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems, documenting findings, and enforcing code requirements while coordinating with other city departments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or higher and three years journey level building trades or related inspection experience.
• Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class C Driver's License or equivalent; applicable licenses as required by area of assignment.
• ICC Certification requirements for Building/Plumbing/Mechanical/Electrical inspections by specified time frames.

Responsibilities

• Conduct building, plumbing, mechanical, or electrical site inspections of commercial or residential construction.
• Review plans and specifications for conformance with code requirements and permit issuance.
• Provide technical assistance and interpretation of building codes to contractors and the public.
• Enforce municipal building codes and maintain records of inspections and findings.
