Job summary

The City of St. Pete Beach seeks a Building Official to direct and manage building and development code permitting and inspection processes.

You will interpret, implement, and enforce the city’s codes, supervise division staff, and prepare reports in coordination with the Planning and Community Development Director. Responsibilities include approving permits, advising officials, representing the city at public meetings, and ensuring compliance with FEMA and other regulations.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical code enforcement.
• Thorough understanding of building, construction, engineering, and structural engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the City’s Building Official.
• Approve all construction permits and review plans for compliance with codes and regulations.
• Advise boards and committees on building code requirements; brief the City Council and agencies.
• Represent the City at meetings and conferences on building construction issues.
• Maintain records of permits and licensing for contractors and provide reports.
