Job summary

City of Largo is hiring a Supervising Building Official to assist the Building Official in planning, organizing, and directing the Building Division. You will ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code, manage plan review and inspections, and supervise staff to deliver high-quality services to the community.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Architecture or Engineering or related field with ten (10) years directly experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• At least five (5) years experience in a supervisory role.
• Public agency Building Department experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Plan Review and Inspection Staff, including selection, promotion, training, discipline, and appraisal of assigned staff.
• Acts as Building Official in the absence of the Building Official.
• Maintains the Division's operations and SOPs; prepares reports and presentations for City Commission.
• Directs plan review and field inspections to ensure code compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
• Supports customer service standards and risk management practices within the Building Division.
