Job summary

SAFEbuilt seeks a Building Official in Houston to lead building code compliance, plan reviews, and department coordination. The role emphasizes strong knowledge of local codes, customer service, and staff supervision within our nationwide team.

You will review commercial and residential plans, support field inspections, and ensure adherence to state and local regulations while delivering high-quality service to clients and residents in the Houston area.

Qualifications

• ICC Building Official certification is required.
• ICC Inspector certifications in multiple trades.
• Client and team management experience in a building department setting.
• Inspection and Plan review experience for commercial and residential structures.

Responsibilities

• Meeting all state and locally mandated code compliance and reporting requirements.
• Apply knowledge of building codes, policies, and procedures to day-to-day functions of the building department.
• Serve as the primary liaison with clients to deliver the highest level of customer service.
• Attend department and community meetings as required by the client.
• Perform plan reviews for commercial and residential in all trades.
• Provide inspection support as needed.
• Supervise building department staff.
