Job summary

R.P. Lumber Co., Inc. in Monon, IN is hiring an Inside Sales Representative for our lumberyard.

The showroom role involves helping contractors and homeowners select materials, writing accurate orders, and keeping the sales floor ready. You will quote and sell in person, by phone, and by email, run the register, and support merchandising and special orders. The position reports to the Retail Manager and requires on-site work, with a pay range of $15.00–$20.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to listen to customers and contractors.
• Comfort with computers, math, and organized, accurate work.
• Ability to learn BisTrack (POS), Microsoft Word and Excel, and related software.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Flexible retail schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing and walking most of the day, using hands and arms, talking and listening, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, working in the showroom, warehouse, and outdoors in changing weather, frequently lifting or moving 10 to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting or moving 50 to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Help customers and contractors with product selection, pricing, quotes, orders, deliveries, and installations.
• Follow up on orders and resolve service issues; involve the Retail or General Manager when needed.
• Build relationships with walk-in and contractor customers.
• Support Outside Sales with order questions, product information, and pricing.
• Learn estimating and material takeoffs for construction projects.
• Grow product knowledge across residential, rural, industrial, and commercial building materials.
