Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a facilities maintenance professional to perform a variety of repair tasks across county buildings. The role involves basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills, with responsibilities for HVAC systems, electrical wiring, and general facility upkeep.

The position requires high school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience; licensing is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for working with the public,

Qualifications

  • 3 years of job-related experience preferred.
  • License is preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with the public and officials.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general repairs within the facility including basic electrical, plumbing, preventative maintenance, assembling and moving furniture as needed.
  • Repair HVAC and electrical equipment as required.
  • Make necessary repairs to building facilities.
  • Install and repair electrical wiring as needed.
  • Maintain routine checks on general conditions of all buildings.
  • Assist in the preventative maintenance of all systems.
  • Train and/or assist other employees with their duties.
  • Participate in emergency management activities during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with general repairs within the facility including, basic electrical, plumbing, preventative maintenance, assembling and moving furniture as needed.
  • Repairs HVAC and electrical equipment as required.
  • Makes necessary repairs to building facilities.
  • Installs and repairs electrical wiring as needed.
  • Maintains routine check on general conditions of all buildings.
  • Assists in the preventative maintenance of all systems.
  • Trains and/or assists other employees with their duties.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • 3 years job related experience.
  • Basic working knowledge of plumbing and carpentry; specific knowledge of commercial electrical and HVAC systems.
  • License preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
STARTING SALARY RANGE

$20.71 - $25.89 hourly based on qualifications
