Columbia University Facilities & Operations is seeking a Handyperson A to perform minor building and grounds repairs and preventive maintenance for CU apartment buildings under the Building Superintendent. The role emphasizes carpentry, plumbing and system upkeep.

Reporting to the Building Superintendent, you will inspect equipment, operate absorption air conditioning systems and boilers, and supervise staff as needed.

Qualifikationen

• Seven years of related experience required.
• Minimum of three years supervisory experience.
• Computer proficiency is necessary.
• Well-versed in the operation and maintenance of absorption air conditioning chiller units and their auxiliaries.
• Knowledge of oil-fired low-pressure boilers and their auxiliaries.

Aufgaben

• Performs minor carpentry, plumbing, and plastering work.
• Ensure proper operation of absorption air conditioning system, steam boilers, fan coil units, cooling towers, and package air conditioning units.
• Inspects the building and its equipment and performs preventive maintenance.
• Performs tasks such as snow removal and apartment preparation as needed.
• Supervises building employees and arranges work schedules as needed.
• In the absence of the building superintendent, supervises employees and schedules work.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
