Columbia University in the City of New York is seeking a Handyperson A to perform minor building and grounds repairs and preventive maintenance for CU apartment buildings. The role reports to the Building Superintendent and operates with a 40-hour week, Friday–Tuesday, 2:00pm–11:00pm, with a salary range of $33.65 per hour.

Responsibilities include basic carpentry, plumbing, and plastering, maintaining absorption air conditioning systems and boilers, and supervising building staff when needed.

Responsabilités

• Performs minor carpentry, plumbing, and plastering.
• Ensure proper operation of absorption air conditioning system, steam boilers, fan coil units, cooling towers, and package air conditioning units.
• Inspects the building and its equipment and performs preventive maintenance to keep all in good working order.
• Performs tasks such as snow removal and apartment preparation when needed.
• Supervises building employees and arranges work schedules.
• Some heavy lifting may be required; in the absence of the building superintendent, supervises staff.
