Job summary

Ryan Companies US Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to execute preventive maintenance, respond to tenant service requests, and assist in coordinating building improvements for downtown Chicago properties.

This role is primarily first shift, with on-call rotation as required, and emphasizes safety, documentation, and customer service. The successful candidate will troubleshoot MEP systems, prioritize workloads, and work closely with the property manager and chief engineer to ensure reliable

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating commercial buildings and equipment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two-year technical degree or equivalent.
• Licensing/certifications to operate a building.
• Basic computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office and CMMS.
• Knowledge of energy management systems.
• Excellent verbal communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on building equipment and systems.
• Manage or assist subcontractors with maintenance and projects.
• Respond to tenant service work orders promptly and professionally.
• Coordinate with property manager and chief engineer on services and tenant improvements.
• Maintain mechanical rooms and utility rooms in a neat condition.
• Monitor energy system equipment and adjust set-points; document actions daily.
• Ensure Fire/Life/Safety equipment is functioning as designed.
• Participate in on-call, after-hours, and weekend work.
• Complete required training and safety programs.
• Provide exceptional customer service and teamwork.
