The City of Vancouver is hiring Building Inspector I/II/III to perform field inspections ensuring conformance with building codes and approved plans. This full-time, non-exempt union role operates Monday to Friday and offers step-based wage progression per the collective bargaining agreement.

Levels I–III require varying years of experience and appropriate licenses/certifications; candidates with ICC credentials at level II or III will be preferred.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum HS Diploma or GED.
• Trade school or Associate degree in construction technology preferred.
• ICC or related credentials preferred at higher levels.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Aufgaben

• Assist contractors, architects, engineers and property owners with code and inspection processes.
• Conduct inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial structures across construction stages.
• Document deficiencies and issue correction notices as needed.
• Log inspection results and generate reports in the permit tracking system.
• Coordinate with plans examiners and other departments to resolve compliance issues.
