Job summary

The University of Vermont is seeking a Skilled Crafts & Trades OC3 N to maintain and repair exterior building envelope systems. Responsibilities include using manufacturer specs and campus guidelines, accessing information via software, and updating records, with potential operation of a university vehicle or aerial lift.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and four years of roofing experience, OSHA knowledge, and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair exterior building envelope systems per manufacturer specs and University guidelines.
  • Access information using appropriate software; update records.
  • Operate a university vehicle; may operate an aerial lift.
  • Report problems and repair timelines to building occupants.
  • Support safety, social justice, inclusion, environmental sustainability and great customer experience.

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all types of exterior building envelope systems in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, University guidelines, and normal trade practices. Access information utilizing appropriate software applications. Promote a workplace culture that encourages safety within the shop and in the field. Communicate problems and repair protocols/time frames to building occupants. Update records accordingly. Operate a university vehicle. May be required to operate an aerial lift. Report to Zone Supervisor and actively engage in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion, environmental sustainability and delivering great customer experience.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

High School Diploma and four years of roofing experience and experience working with other trade services. Proficient knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety, and equipment safety required. Experience using computers and mobile technology. Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain and driver’s check required. Ability to stand/walk on roofs and scaffolding, climb ladders and heights and steep angles on a regular basis. Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions. Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ) when performing specific job functions. Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check and physical screening.

Anticipated Pay Range $24.00-$27.00/hour
