Job summary

ECS Group of Companies (ECS) is seeking a Building Enclosure Project Associate in Chesapeake, VA to support field investigations, testing, analysis, and reporting with our Mid-Atlantic Building Science & Infrastructure team. You will work with experienced consultants on building envelope projects across various facilities, gaining hands-on field experience and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering, Architecture (NCARB) or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in building enclosure consulting, including field investigations, testing, commissioning (BECx), design review, or forensic assessments.
• License or certification such as P.E., RA, IIBEC (RRC/RWC/REWC/RBEC/CBECxP) or BECxP/CxA+BE is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform building science & infrastructure testing, inspections, and consulting services.
• Conduct site observations and inspections of roofing and building enclosure systems.
• Interpret drawings, figures, and site plans; assist with drafting or CAD work when needed.
• Perform building enclosure testing and assist with developing testing protocols and test plans.
• Interpret test results, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist with forensic assessments, commissioning activities, and building enclosure investigations.
• Assist with design reviews, repair design for existing building envelope components, and peer review of specifications and submittals.
• Maintain familiarity with building codes and standards including IBC, ASHRAE, ASTM, and CSI.
