Job summary

City of Maypearl is seeking an Assistant Building Official to deliver timely, courteous service to residents and industry. The role involves reviewing plans for residential and commercial work, interpreting codes, and coordinating with Planning, Fire, Public Works, and engineers.

Strong supervisory experience and licensing will be needed. Qualifications include Texas plumbing inspector licensing, ICC certifications, and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of residential and commercial construction and applicable codes.
• Working knowledge of inspection methods and enforcement procedures.
• Experience in coordinating plan reviews with other departments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in scheduling department tasks related to plan reviews and inspections.
• Interpret and explain building codes to contractors and the public.
• Review building plans for compliance with City Ordinances and Codes.
• Coordinate plan reviews with Planning, Fire, Public Works, and City Engineers.
• Conduct on-site inspections for code compliance.
• Prepare quarterly reports and maintain accurate permit records.
• Attend related meetings after hours as needed.
