Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking a Building Automation and Controls Estimator to join our on-site team in Whippany, NJ. You will estimate new and existing commercial projects, develop complete BAS proposals, and collaborate with design engineers, project managers, vendors and customers from bidding through award.

You will perform takeoffs of mechanical plans, review specifications, and develop HVAC cost estimates for various projects, ensuring bids align with budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in HVAC estimating and/or service and controls field experience.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, materials, and installation practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, contractors, and design teams.
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Document Analysis: Review project specifications and blueprints to determine HVAC scope and estimate costs.
• Estimate Development: Create detailed HVAC cost estimates for new construction, renovation and retrofitting, aligned with budgets and schedules.
• Collaboration & Communication: Maintain clear communication with owners, general contractors, engineers, architects and other stakeholders.
• Meetings & Coordination: Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to ensure understanding of scope and schedule.
• Project Support: Assist in bids and proposals with detailed HVAC scopes of work.
• Risk Management: Identify risks in project documents and work with teams to mitigate issues.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on trends to improve estimating accuracy and processes.
