Job summary

Air Group in New Jersey is seeking a Building Automation and Controls Estimator to join our on-site team in Whippany. You will develop detailed HVAC cost estimates for new construction, renovations and retrofits, and prepare complete BAS proposals in coordination with design engineers and project managers.

Candidates should have 2+ years in HVAC estimating or controls, strong technical knowledge, and good communication. Travel to job sites is occasional; a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in HVAC estimating and/or service and controls field experience.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, materials, and installation practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with clients, contractors, and design teams.
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Review project specifications and drawings to determine HVAC scope and estimate costs.
• Develop detailed HVAC cost estimates for new construction, renovation, and retrofits.
• Communicate with owners, general contractors, engineers, architects, and stakeholders throughout estimation.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to understand project scope and schedule.
• Assist in bid preparation and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Identify risks in project documentation and work with teams to mitigate.
• Stay updated on industry trends to improve estimating accuracy.
