Job summary

Air Group in Whippany, NJ is seeking a Building Automation and Controls Estimator for a full-time, on-site role. You will estimate HVAC and BAS projects, review mechanical plans, and collaborate with design engineers, PMs, vendors, and customers from bid to award.

The role requires detail-oriented, technical expertise with strong communication, and experience in estimating HVAC systems and building automation. Travel to sites is occasional; office and site work mix as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in HVAC estimating or controls field.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems and installation practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in estimating software and MS Office.
• Strong attention to detail and cost calculations.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Highly organized and able to work independently or with a team.

Responsibilities

• Document analysis of project specs, blueprints, and documents to determine HVAC scope and costs.
• Develop detailed HVAC cost estimates for various projects (new, renovation, retrofit).
• Communicate with owners, contractors, engineers, architects, and others throughout estimation.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to understand scope and timeline.
• Assist in bids and proposals with detailed HVAC scopes of work.
• Identify risks in project documentation and work with teams to mitigate them.
• Stay updated on industry trends to improve estimating accuracy.
