Job summary

Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Seasonal Service Worker to support operations. Responsibilities include building set-up and cleanup, room preparation, and general facility maintenance. The role is Non-Exempt with flexible hours Sun–Sat and offers a hands-on, service-oriented work environment.

Ideal candidates will have at least 1 year in labor or maintenance and be able to read and write. This on-site position supports weekend services and other church ministries as needed.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Building Set-up and Clean-up
• Clean and set up all rooms and building areas as scheduled.
• Ensure all areas of the building are clean and maintained.
• Prepare and provide refreshments, equipment, seating arrangement, and other requests as requested by ministries.
• Clean and prepare Baptistery for use.
• General Facility Maintenance of Building and Grounds including but not limited to the following:
• Clean and stock restrooms and kitchens.
• Be observant of building and grounds to report or act on any unsafe conditions or areas in need of repair.
• Maintain grounds, including sidewalks and entrances, as directed. Pick up trash on grounds to ensure parking lot free of trash and obstacles.
• Clean glass doors and windows.
• Prepare communion trays for weekend services and replenish as needed during weekend worship services. Clean and store communion trays and supplies.
• Customer Service
• Develop working relationship with all departments.
• Review room set up and instructions for setups on a daily basis.
• Anticipate needs of ministries to provide excellent service.
• Work schedule may vary depending on needs of the church.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to read and write.
• One (1) year experience in labor, maintenance or related field.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment and procedures.
• Knowledge of basic use and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
• Ability to readily learn repetitive task.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to work with occasional flexibility in schedule.
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with ministry volunteers.
• Ability to perform all the physical, intellectual, and analytical requirements of the position including decision making.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Constantly lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate radio communication devices and basic office equipment. Constantly required to stand, walk, push, squat, kneel, lift from the floor, and use hand and finger dexterity. Frequently required to reach above and below shoulder level, lift bulky items, and climb stairs. Occasionally an employee will be required to balance and climb ladders. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment.
