Job summary

Formlabs in Somerville, MA is seeking a Build Team Lead to guide a skilled group of technicians across engineering projects, building prototypes and fixtures.

You will partner with program leads to prioritize work, mentor staff, and recruit talent, while steering the in-house Machine Shop to accelerate product development.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a technical team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Hands-on background in fabrication, electrical work, and prototype assembly
• Proficiency with mechanical design and CAD tools (CAD modeling)

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of technicians to drive rapid iteration across programs.
• Align staffing with program priorities and schedules.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance for growth.
• Recruit new technicians to match workloads as the company grows.
• Provide clear technical directions to unblock day-to-day work.
• Own and run the internal Machine Shop to speed up development.
