Job summary

Formlabs, based in Somerville, MA, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and build prototypes and production electronic systems. You will own projects, integrating analog and digital design, PCB layout, embedded firmware, and subsystem development with data-driven validation.

You will work across sensors, actuators, and optoelectronics, ensuring design robustness from early research through field troubleshooting, while growing into senior technical roles within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years designing and debugging electronics that shipped in products
• Generalist with both analog and digital design, PCB layout, validation and debugging
• Hands-on approach, able to support designs through product life cycle, from research to field troubleshooting
• Experience with embedded software development and understanding of hardware-software interactions

Responsibilities

• Design and build prototypes and production electronic systems, including circuit design, PCB layout, embedded firmware development, bring up and validation
• Own projects and ship products as a full-stack electronics engineer
• Design subsystems (sensors, actuators, optoelectronics) with tradeoffs between electrical and mechanical needs
• Back decisions with data from simulations and experiments
• Grow technically into system architect or technical lead roles while collaborating with teams
