Job summary

Brooks Insurance Agency, the wholesale brokerage of Venbrook Group, is seeking an Excess Liability Insurance Underwriter to evaluate, price, and manage excess and surplus (E&S) casualty risks. This role emphasizes disciplined risk selection, pricing accuracy, and strong documentation within delegated authority.

You will review applications, loss history, and exposure data, collaborating with brokers and internal carrier teams to ensure profitable growth while maintaining compliance with surplus

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in excess casualty or surplus lines underwriting.
• Experience making binding underwriting decisions within delegated authority.
• Strong technical knowledge of E&S casualty coverage structures and pricing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid understanding of surplus lines regulations.
• Proficiency with underwriting platforms and rating tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex excess casualty submissions and loss data.
• Underwrite E&S lines outside standard market appetite within authority.
• Determine coverage structures, attachment points, limits, terms and endorsements.
• Collaborate with brokers and carrier teams on pricing and structure.
• Maintain compliant underwriting files reflecting sound decisions.
• Support audits and regulatory adherence.
