Job summary

BNSF Railway is seeking a construction-focused engineer to join the Engineering Department in Ottumwa, IA. You will work full-time (40 hrs/wk) with travel to job sites during extended periods, contributing to the building and maintenance of bridges and related structures.

On-the-job and classroom training are provided at the company Training Center, with a 60-day probationary period. Requirements include a valid Class A CDL or ability to obtain one within 60 days, safety-conscious operations in

Qualifications

• Must have valid Class A CDL or obtain within 60 days.
• 21 years old or older.
• Able to work safely in required conditions and at heights.
• Able to lift up to 90 pounds.
• Able to read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Construct, inspect, and maintain railroad bridges, tunnels, culverts, and other structures.
• Repair timber bridges and structural steel members.
• Place and finish concrete; perform carpentry work.
• Read blueprints to determine materials and dimensions.
• Operate company vehicles and rigging; ensure safety on site.
