Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Klamath Falls is seeking a Bridge Maintenance Specialist to maintain and repair bridges and related structures. You will operate a range of equipment, assist with emergencies, and support drainage, signage and road maintenance tasks in a dynamic field crew.

Candidates should have CDL-A with tanker endorsement and be prepared for occasional overtime, travel to sites, and heavy physical work in all weather.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
• CDL-A with tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy and light equipment to maintain, repair, reconstruct and strengthen wooden, steel and concrete bridges and culverts.
• Construct and place rigging and scaffolding.
• Perform concrete demolition, masonry work, steel work, woodwork and paint work.
• Perform inspections of structures for repairs.
• Assist with weather related emergencies and operate snowplows, deicer trucks and other equipment to clear snow from roadways.
• Perform minor surface repairs including pothole and concrete patching and small inlay work.
• Clear debris, clear brush, mow grass and spray roadside vegetation.
• Maintain drainage systems, dig and clean ditches and repair culverts, inlets and erosion.
