Job summary

NDOT is seeking a professional engineer to support the Bridge Management Section in Lincoln, NE. The role focuses on scoping and cost estimating for programmed and maintenance bridge work, using bridge design policies and maintenance practices to guide decisions.

You will coordinate with Design, Hydraulics, and Load Rating sections and with Roadway Design, Project Development, and districts to ensure integrated bridge solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline; PE license required at employment or within 90 days.
• Engineer track requires FE exam within one year of employment.
• Experience in bridge design, construction, inspection, materials, or related structural engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Review repair, rehab, redeck, or replace strategies for bridges.
• Assess future roadway segments and bridge condition data.
• Conduct field visits to verify scope of work.
• Generate cost estimates using AASHTOWare Project.
• Track programmed bridge work to manage capital resources.
• Publish bridge determinations at planning and plan-in-hand stages.
• Use Clarity workflow and OnBase for routing.
• Incorporate AI and data analytics to model deterioration and defects.
• Integrate NDT into condition modeling.
