Job summary

Mid-Atlantic Engineering Group in South Carolina is seeking a Bridge Engineer to design and analyze steel, concrete, and prestressed bridges, with project ownership from concept to final plans.

You will collaborate with geotechnical and roadway teams, develop technical reports meeting AASHTO, DOT, NBIS requirements, and mentor junior engineers. Occasional site visits and travel statewide are expected.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of bridge or structural engineering experience (PE or on track within one year).
• Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD, MicroStation or AutoCAD, and bridge design software such as LEAP, CSiBridge, or STAAD.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for client meetings and technical reports.
• Ability to reside in South Carolina and make occasional day trips to project sites statewide (overnight travel is rare).

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis, finite-element modeling, and load rating for steel, concrete, and prestressed concrete bridges.
• Develop plans, details, and technical reports that meet AASHTO, DOT, and NBIS requirements.
• Coordinate with geotechnical, roadway, and hydraulic teams to integrate foundation and approach-roadway solutions.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction to ensure design intent.
• Mentor junior engineers by sharing best practices in analysis, detailing, and quality control.
