Job summary

State of South Carolina District One Bridge Maintenance is seeking a skilled laborer with excavator experience to support setting and driving piles, constructing concrete caps and bridge decks, and operating related equipment on site.

Responsibilities include crane operation training, manual bridge maintenance tasks, and potential extended hours, night shifts, or weekends during hazardous weather or emergencies. A CDL will be required within six months of placement.

Qualifications

• One year of related work experience or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled labor and excavator operation in setting, driving, and cutting treated timber and steel piles, and setting concrete caps and bridge deck slabs.
• Operate a Lowboy Truck Tractor to transport the crane, materials, and/or other equipment as needed.
• Operate various tools used for bridge construction and maintenance; perform manual labor on handrails, rip-rap, and bridge components.
