Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Bridge Maintenance Specialist for INDOT's Vincennes District. This role performs outside labor across highway bridges, including brush clearing, concrete patching and related maintenance tasks.

CDL is required or must be obtained within 90 days, with CDL bonus opportunities and training provided onsite. Candidates should be able to work in all weather, operate heavy equipment, and communicate effectively with supervisors.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days.
• Pass and submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
• General knowledge of highway guidelines, laws and construction inspection practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance equipment to maintain and repair highways and rights-of-way.
• Perform winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Assist in traffic control, signs placement, and barricade erection during incidents.
• Maintain and document routine equipment maintenance and refueling checks.
• Log job activities in the Work Management System (WMS).
• Maintain signs, route markers and pavement markings; coordinate material/equipment needs with Supervisor.
• Communicate feedback on employee issues to the Supervisor.
