Job summary

State of Indiana seeks a Research and NDT Specialized Testing Technician in West Lafayette, IN to support INDOT’s mission. The role conducts field and technical inspections, operates testing equipment, and collects data to keep bridges and assets in reliable condition.

Overnight travel is required 3 days per week between April and November. CDL and snow removal duties may apply, with a starting salary around $53,222 and opportunities for district-based premium pay.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one with the first 90 days of employment.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Acts as part of a two-person team to perform inspections on bridges and large culverts.
• Maintains and updates the Bridge Inspection and Asset Database.
• Prepares reports detailing inspection findings and updates related documents.
• Collects and reviews data to prepare for site inspections.
• Assists district bridge crews in repairs and maintenance.
• Plows snow as needed.
