Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader for the Carolinas Region based in Raleigh, NC. The role requires leading a two-person team, conducting field inspections, and producing NBIS-compliant reports.

Travel within North Carolina will be required to support NCDOT projects. You must have NBIS knowledge, a valid driver’s license, and be prepared for working in hazardous field conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience conducting field inspections and preparing inspection reports.
• Strong NBIS knowledge; NBIS Team Leader qualification preferred.
• NBIS Bridge Inspection Course; NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges within last 5 years.
• EIT or P.E. license preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Lead a two-person bridge inspection team across NC on varied structures.
• Perform field inspections in hazardous environments, including heights and water access.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports outlining structural conditions and compliance.
• Schedule inspections, coordinate personnel and stakeholders, and manage traffic control and field logistics.
• Train new inspectors and supervise field operations.
