Job description

Are we the road to your future? We are currently searching for an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader to support our Carolinas Region located in Raleigh, NC. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

What You'll Be Doing

• Advanced level in-depth safety inspection work as the Team Leader of a 2-man bridge inspection team that conducts inspection on all types of structures in North Carolina.
• Work in an outside environment at considerable heights, exposure to snakes, spiders, insects, and poisonous plants.
• Safety shoes will be required as a condition of employment.
• Responsible for carrying out in-depth inspections on bridges, light standards, culverts, pipes, sign supports, and overhead walkways and preparing reports detailing conditions found during the inspection process. These reports are used in an evaluation process that determines the structural integrity and the capability of structures to support loads imposed on them by the traveling public and/or natural forces.
• Train new inspectors, schedule, and plan the team's activities in conformance with bridge priorities.
• Lead a team of inspectors in the field during inspections.
• Schedule and coordinate inspections, personnel, vendors, stakeholders, and maintenance of traffic.
• Operate access equipment and other equipment to perform inspections.

What You Need To Have

• Experience in conducting field inspections and preparing inspection reports. A strong working knowledge of NBIS and advanced writing and communication skills.
• Must have NBIS Bridge Inspection Course.
• NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course with Refresher Training within the last 5 years.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in bridge inspections with a minimum of 1 year service as a qualified NBIS Team Leader.
• NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges and Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures Courses preferred but not required.
• EIT or P.E. license preferred but not required.
• In-state travel required.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening.
• If applicable, a post‑offer fit‑for‑duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role.
• Valid driver’s license.
• A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
