Job summary
The Department of Transportation is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to support the East River East River Bridges inspections and maintenance oversight. The role focuses on conducting field inspections, preparing design sketches, drawings, maps and technical specs, and coordinating with contractors to ensure safety and standards are met.
Responsibilities include investigations, studies, scheduling, daily reports, and maintaining the engineer's diary.
Qualifications
- Bachelors in civil engineering with 1 year full-time civil engineering experience.
- Bachelors in civil engineering technology with 3 years full-time civil engineering experience.
- Bachelors plus a Master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college/university.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections and oversee preventive maintenance by contractors.
- Conduct field surveys and maintenance operations.
- Prepare design plans, sketches, working drawings, maps and technical specifications.
- Engage in investigations and studies pertaining to bridge inspections.
- Ensure safety standards and governmental standards are maintained.
- Schedule tasks and maintain routine reports and diaries.
