Job summary

Modjeski and Masters, based in Poughkeepsie, NY, is offering an entry-level internship for civil engineering students. The role focuses on reviewing structural calculations and supporting bridge component design using industry software.

You will use CAD tools, contribute to design reports, and work under a Senior Engineer to learn standards such as AASHTO, AREMA, and ACI. Authorized US work status is required, and a typical weekly schedule is up to 40 hours.

Qualifications

• Working towards a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
• Ideal candidate will have completed at least two of the following courses: Concrete Design; Steel Design; Prestressed Concrete Design; Structural Analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the review and verification of standard structural design calculations.
• Supporting the structural analysis and design of bridge components using engineering software tools.
• Helping develop preliminary design details using CAD software and providing input to CAD technicians for contract plan development.
• Contributing to design reports by compiling relevant technical information.
• Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, in a professional engineering environment.
• Reviewing and checking engineering drawings under the close supervision of a Senior Engineer.
• Gain exposure of structural analysis and design software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Learning and applying relevant design specifications and standards, including AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, and ACI.
