Job summary

Modjeski and Masters, Inc. in Poughkeepsie, NY seeks an Entry Level Civil/Structural Bridge Design Engineer to join our team. You will support design calculations, perform part of the analyses, and help prepare preliminary details with CAD tools under supervision.

The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering with ABET accreditation and 0–4 years of bridge experience, plus EI certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months. Hybrid work environment and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited college or university.
• 0–4 years of Bridge Engineering experience.
• EI Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review and check standard structural design calculations.
• Assist with structural analysis and design of standard bridge components using analysis software.
• Assist with the development of preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans.
• Provide information for design reports.
• Perform additional duties including field inspections and construction service assignments.
• Communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
• Assist with the preparation of project-related documents and internal correspondence.
• Assist and perform quantity take-offs from contract plans.
• Review and check drawings under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.
• Use engineering analysis software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.
• Able to learn and apply relevant design specifications (AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, ACI).
