Job summary

The Modjeski and Masters Inc. Mechanicsburg office is offering a Civil Engineering internship focused on movable bridge design and analysis. You will assist in reviewing calculations and supporting design work under supervision.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering and will gain hands-on experience with software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD and MicroStation while learning AASHTO, AREMA, AISC and ACI guidelines.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited college or university.
• Completed at least two of Concrete Design, Steel Design, Structural Analysis.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in review and verification of standard structural design calculations.
• Supporting structural analysis and design of bridge components using engineering software.
• Developing preliminary design details using CAD and coordinating with CAD technicians.
• Contributing to design reports with relevant technical information.
• Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, in a professional environment.
• Reviewing and checking drawings under supervision of a Senior Engineer.
• Gaining exposure to software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, MicroStation.
• Learning design specs and standards including AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, and ACI.

Job Details: Job Location: Mechanicsburg PA - Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, Position Type: Internship, Salary Range: $20.00 - $30.00 Hourly, The Mechanicsburg, PA office of Modjeski and Masters Inc., is seeking students interested in an internship focused on Movable Bridge Design and Analysis.

What We’re Looking For

• Working towards a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
• Ideal Candidate will have completed at least two of following courses, Concrete Design, Steel Design; Structural Analysis

What You’ll Do

• Assisting in the review and verification of standard structural design calculations.
• Supporting the structural analysis and design of bridge components using engineering software tools.
• Helping develop preliminary design details using CAD software and providing input to CAD technicians for contract plan development.
• Contributing to design reports by compiling relevant technical information.
• Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, in a professional engineering environment.
• Reviewing and checking engineering drawings under the close supervision of a Senior Engineer.
• Gaining exposure of structural analysis and design software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Learning and applying relevant design specifications and standards, including AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, and ACI.
