Moffatt & Nichol seeks a Construction Inspector/Bridge Inspector in Norfolk, VA to inspect bridges, culverts and roadways, ensuring quality and compliance with designs. The role requires civil engineering expertise and field inspection experience.

The candidate should have an EIT, NBIS exposure, valid driver's license and be prepared for field-heavy work, including occasional evenings and weekends, in the Hampton Roads area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) is required.
• 3–7 years of heavy construction experience and/or inspection oversight on transportation related projects (bridges, culverts, roadways).
• NBIS bridge inspection experience preferred; certifications (NHI-130055, NHI-130053) desirable.
• Valid driver's license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Inspect bridges and transportation structures during construction and evaluate contractor methods, materials, and compliance with drawings and specs.
• Maintain comprehensive project records including daily diaries and as-built plans; prepare reports.
• Coordinate with engineers and contractor personnel; review RFIs and shop drawings.
