Job summary

City of New York is seeking a Carpenter for the NYC Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges. The position covers rough, finish, and general carpentry for the city’s elevated infrastructure, including building and repairing toolboxes, ladders, and related equipment.

Work is from plans and sketches and may require climbing heights or working in confined spaces. This civil service role offers a 35-hour work week, potential evenings/weekends, and a benefits package including health

Qualifications

• Five years of full-time carpentry experience within the last ten years.
• Three years of experience plus relevant trade school can total five years.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation and repair work involving rough, finish, and general carpentry for maintenance of the city’s elevated infrastructure.
• Build and repair toolboxes, ladders, and other equipment; work from plans and sketches.
• Operate hand and powered woodworking equipment; keep job records; may require work at heights or in confined spaces.
• May work evenings and weekends as needed.
