The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges is responsible for managing the full life cycle of over 800 bridges and tunnels and over 600 retaining walls, ensuring safety of the public and ensuring mobility for all users. Team members may work on major project designs, oversee construction, oversee maintenance activities, perform engineering reviews and quality assurance tasks on some of the most iconic and complex projects in the City.
Performs installation and repair work involving rough, finish, and general carpentry related to the maintenance of the city’s elevated infrastructure; builds and repairs toolboxes and various types of ladders and other equipment; works from plans and sketches; operates both hand and powered woodworking equipment; keeps job records; performs related duties. Some duties may require working at heights and in confined spaces. May be occasionally required to work evenings and weekends.
